CADS Calgary is committed to providing a safe and respectful environment for everyone in our community — participants, volunteers, families, and staff alike.
As a club operating under CADS Alberta, we have adopted the Alberta Safe Sport Complaint Mechanism (ABSSCM) — Alberta's independent, provincially funded system for reporting and resolving serious misconduct ("maltreatment") in sport. It replaces the previous national process and is administered by an independent third party, ALIAS, completely separate from CADS Calgary and CADS Alberta.
Report a complaint
If you have experienced or witnessed maltreatment, you can report it confidentially. Reports are received and managed by ALIAS's independent, trained case managers — not by CADS Calgary.
⚠️ If someone is in immediate danger, call 911. The ABSSCM does not provide emergency assistance.
What happens when you report
When you submit a report, you're connected directly to ALIAS, where you complete an online complaint form. An independent case manager will be in contact, typically within 48 working hours. Case managers are trained, neutral professionals who operate independently of CADS Calgary and CADS Alberta.
What the ABSSCM handles — and what it doesn't
The ABSSCM is for concerns involving maltreatment under the Alberta Universal Code of Conduct (AB UCC). It is not the right channel for everyday sport disagreements — those should be raised directly with CADS Calgary.
✓ Report through ABSSCM
- Psychological maltreatment
- Physical or sexual maltreatment
- Neglect
- Grooming
- Discrimination & retaliation
→ Raise with CADS Calgary
- Scheduling concerns
- Program or coaching decisions
- Group disagreements
- General club questions
Not sure where your concern fits? You're welcome to review the AB UCC below, or simply submit a report — the case manager will determine whether it falls within scope and point you in the right direction. Anonymous reports are permitted.
